A 10 minute drive takes you to the historic City of York, a 30 minute drive takes you into the metropolis of Leeds and 40 minutes to the splendour of Harrogate. Within an hours drive are the North Yorkshire Moors and Dales and coastline with seaside destinations such as Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington and Filey.

COLTON & VILLAGES
The village of Colton is a small delightful medieval linear settlement.
​
There are many walks from the cabin or just a short drive away which take in the neighbouring villages. You could head towards Bolton Percy with its stunning church known as the Minster of the Ainsty, beautiful wild flower graveyard, great Sams Smiths pub which serves good pub grub and its tearooms on the farm, Doyly's.
YORK
Wow...where to start...you could start off with a walk around Yorks historic bar walls, a cruise along the river or even hire your own luxury boat from Naburn Marina, then theres the shopping with all of Yorks quaint streets filled with independant and high street shops, a choice of 2 Bettys cafes, 3 theatres, newly revamped art gallery, National Railway Museum, York Minster, ghost walks, history walks, Castle Museum, historic houses, National Trust properties, or just outside York is the Designer Outlet full of designer brands at reduced prices. We really havent even scratched the surface...so better come and see for yourself.
LEEDS & HARROGATE
In Harrogate you can take in the spa, victorian baths, walk round the famous stray, enjoy a visit to Bettys, the theatre, good assortment of shops and cafes, large antique centre in Pannal and the Great Yorkshire Showground often has events on too.
In Leeds there is a huge variety of shops, arcades, Harvey Nichols, cafe culture, theatres and museums with the Royal Armouries being one of the most popular.
FURTHER AFIELD
York is surrounded by market towns of interest such as Malton - the food town, Pickering with its steam train to the coast and Heartbeat country, Thirsk with its Norman Ackroyd gallery, then theres Wakefield with the Hepworth gallery, Doncaster with its markets, or Ripon and Knaresbrough all well worth a look.

There are some stunning Historic Houses in the area including Newby Hall, Castle Howard, Harewood House and many more.
